Feminist Ships is an edition of 50 artist’s books I printed and published thanks to a generous residency grant from the Women’s Studio Workshop. The book is a 9″ square hard bound accordion book. Feminist Ships chronicles seven different ships and boats that relate to women’s history on the sea.
The book is in the collections of:
Yale, The New York Public Library, The Library of Congress, Virginia Commonwealth University, Vassar College, Bucknell University, University of Delaware, University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), Rochester Institute of Technology, Indiana University (Bloomington), Ohio State University, Bennington College
The Feminist Tea Party, an event I organized, was held at Radiator Gallery in May 2014. The speakers were curator/artist Jeanne Brasile, artist/educator Sreshta Rit Premnath and writer Jessica Machado. Artist Rob Humphrey’s was not able to attend, so he made an smart/funny/touching video especially for the Feminist Tea Party entitled FEM Talk. The event happened in conjunction with the Eyesplice show I organized, Practical Feminism.
Feminist Semaphores is an installation of nautical semaphore flags which spell out responses I wish I had said to men in response to street harassment. There is one flag for every letter of the alphabet.
