Tiny Underdog City: An Uncomprehensive Guide is a hand bound hand colored book of linocuts and digitally printed text. The edition of the artist’s book is 5, but the book will also available as a paperback in March of 2012.
This is an installation project that I am working on entitled “Three Fold Tent”. The tent is modeled after a traditional Mongolian ger (“yurt” is the Russian name). I became interested in Mongolia when my cousin Christian went there for two years with the Peace Corps in 1993-1995. I read books about Mongolia and corresponded with my cousin through letters. The piece is embroidered with the Cohansey River, beside which I grew up, and the blue stripes refer to my alter ego, Sebastian, who I have been drawing for 15 years.
Check out my work on 365 Days of Print . I’ll be updating with new work every day during the month of January.
